Bio:
I attended Alfred University, School of Art and Design and graduated with a BFA in 1993. After college, I moved to Los Angeles and worked at an advertising agency specializing in theatrical standees and posters. I gained much knowledge and experience there. I later moved back to the Detroit area and continued to work in avertising as a Production Artist.
As a Graphic Designer, I have produced and created work in the entertainment industry, auto industry and also in the retail market. Currently, I continue to freelance in Graphic Design while also turning to my first love of fine art.
Some of my artistic influences are: Georgia O'Keeffee, Mara Friedman, Matisse, Picasso, Paul Klee, Chagall, Kandinsky, Barbara Kruger, Pop Art and Op Art.
Style:
I currently do abstract and
non-objective art using primarily pastels, mixed media and the computer as my mediums. I prefer to make sketches using the Adobe Creative Suite programs. I find that by using the computer to create art, I can work quickly and thus increase my creative outlet. I work spntaneously; creating form, color and composition as I go along. Exploring the use of improvisation in the creative process, and the ability to work intuitively is the main focus of my work. Like many artists, my ultimate goal is to create art that is visually stimulating, pulling the audience toward it and perhaps moving them in an emotional way.
